Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines is an integral part of the long history of the Kharkiv Academy of Design and Arts, which dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries.
Its structural and administrative registration into a separate educational unit took place in the 1960s.
In the 1980s, the department project was reoriented into socio-political direction.
The department received the corresponding name, and its known speakers were known at that time specialists in the field of political sciences (Associate Professor Petro Prokopenko) and economics (Associate Professor Volodymyr Zadorozhny).
A separate structural subdivision of the department is the section of physical education, whose activities are aimed at developing a healthy lifestyle, creative and physical activity of young people.
