The Department of Painting was founded in 1921. In the years since then it has taken the leading place in the training of specialists in artistic and design education. The historical traditions of Ukrainian realistic painting, based on the studies of the human nature, continue to be preserved and developed. The activity of the department aims at training of the artists, who will have a wide range of professional basic knowledge and skills in painting and composition as the main subjects for future Ukrainian artists and designers, as well as for the development of inter university and international relations.

WHAT WE ARE LEARNING

The department offers such professional disciplines as:
“Academic Painting” - a practical course (1-5 years of study);
“Fundamentals of composition” - lecture and practical course (1-2 years of study);
“Composition (plot-genre)” - a practical course (3-5 years of study);
“Composition (portrait-genre)” - a practical course (3-5 years of study);
“Copy”- a practical course (2 years of study);
“Color Studies” - a lecture and a practical course (1 year of study).

PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYMENT FIELDS

Creation of artistic works of easel art for interior and exterior in various techniques;
Creation of decorative and painting compositions in different genres (history painting, portraiture, battle painting,landscapes, genre painting, still life);
Teaching in children’s specialized artistic educational institutions and educational establishments of 2, 3, 4 levels of accreditation;
Organization of creative group and personal exhibitions, master classes, festivals, symposiums, creative events related to art).
